Beginning Over Foundation - From Zero To Hero Award From Zero to Hero Award was conceived while driving a survivor of domestic abuse to her drivers permit test. After talking to this woman and knowing how far she has come and the obstacles she has faced and her vision of where she wants to be in a year, I knew immediately that we had to do something, I said "wow, from zero to hero" right. Most often, these women and children flee their homes with just the clothes on the backs, starting from zero. At the Beginning Over Foundation we are proud to be able to witness the transformations and growth of the families we serve.....standing behind or aside them every step of the way. The award honoree will be recognized on June 15, 2010, in honor of Robin D. Shaffer to mark the fifth year anniversary of her death.

From Zero to Hero Award recognizes a woman of true strength and courage who is working hard to rebuild her life. The award receipient will be announced on June 15, 2010 and will be recognized for her work and accomplishments. Since our inception in 2006, Beginning Over Foundation has profoundly impacted the lives of hundreds of women by providing them with more than 30,000 dollars in funding to help them rebuild and sustain healthy lives and relationships.

We invest in these women, their families (95% of BOF recipients are mothers) and their futures. As a result, these women have been able to re-build their lives, achieve self-sufficiency, and regain their self-esteem. Many of these courageous women have gone on to become vital voices in our communities, serving with us as powerful advocates in increasing DV awareness, education and prevention.
